Youth Skilling Initiative by NIOS

The Prime Minister in his 18th Mann Ki Baat held on 27th March 2016 had mentioned that youth should acquire some skills and equip themselves during vacations. Taking clue from the Prime Minister's statement, the NIOS has designed and developed summer skill training programme for young learners who have passed 10th and 12th to undergo employability training. The training would involve theoretical as well as hands on training in the areas of House Keeping; Retail; Insurance; Hospitality, Modern Office Practice and personality development; Automobile in collaboration with industries. On completion of the training, various industries have consented to select them through walk-in-interview for placement. The curriculum has been designed in consultation with various industry partners. The summer vacation training would be offered in different towns of the country.

Areas of Training are

  1. Retail
  2. Hospitality Services
  3. IT/ITES
  4. Service Technician
  5. Automative after Sales Service and front Office
  6. Assistant Beautician
  7. Modern Office Practice and personality development - This Course is offered only from the Regional Centre NOIDA.

Operating Procedure

  1. The registration will be online on first-come-first serve basis.
  2. NIOS RCs will Identify AI/AVI/Institution as per above mention sectors for providing skill training.
  3. Support for developing training materials in collaboration of the industry.
  4. Identification of companies for 15 days apprenticeship.
  5. Organising Job fair for the trained candidates at RC after the training during last week of July, 2016.
  6. NIOS identity cards will be issued by the concerned Regional Centre for the candidates registered for skill training.

Course Fee

  1. The course fee for any of the above areas except for Modern Office Practice and personality development is Rs.5000/- per course per learner.
  2. The Course fee for Modern Office Practice and personality development is Rs.7500/-

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Class X (10) pass and minimum age should be 18 years on the date of submission of the Form for all the courses except Modern Office Practice and personality development.
  2. For Modern Office Practice and personality development the learner should be Class XII Pass or appearing Class XII and 18 years on the date of submission of the Form.
